BMW Racing Double Adjustable Street/Track Coilover Kit - TC Kline E46DACO
Designed and tested on the street and the track - TC Kline Racing Coilovers are found in hundreds of competition vehicles and daily-driven vehicles alike. TC Kline's coilovers are engineered to maximize the comfort and performance of your BMW. Specific care has been paid to each component of this system, illustrating a true understanding of the needs of the enthusiast.
Precisely-valved, compression and rebound-adjustable, Koni shocks are no off-the-shelf units: TC Kline worked closely with Koni to have dampers designed to meet his exacting specifications. Available only from TC Kline, these shocks and struts combine Koni's manufacturing prowess with TC's hundreds of thousands of racing, testing, and tuning miles to deliver a precisely-tuned experience. Stainless steel front strut housings are road-salt friendly, although we do recommend use of T9 Boeshield or a similar protectant on threads, as with any coilover kit.
Front springs are 60mm ID and are available in 300-650# stiffness, with 600 and 700# available in the rear (2.5" ID). TC Kline's VVS high tensile alloy springs have different free heights - designed to be interchangeable without having to reset ride height. We have these springs available if you decide to try out a different spring rate.
Front camber plates, manufactured from anodized aircraft grade aluminum, with stainless steel bearing housing, stress link and fasteners, allow for 2 degrees adjustment. Rear mounts allow for rebound adjustment without removing the shock or accessing the top of the shock from within the trunk - simply elevate the rear of the car until you can reach over the tire to turn the adjuster pin.
This coilover system is built to meet the evolving demands you'll put on your car - adjustable camber, adjustable rebound, and replaceable springs (which are readily available) all allow to compensate for changes in driving habits, tire selection, track and road surfaces, and of course, a desire for a firmer or softer ride!
Over the course of three decades of racing BMWs, and acquiring 11 national championships, TC Kline learned how to separate truths and misconceptions regarding suspension configuration:
- The stiffest suspension does not guarantee the greatest performance. Stickier tires will allow for the use of even higher spring rates and shock rates, but especially for cars with street tires, a slightly softer suspension will not only allow for more tire-to-road contact (read: more traction) but will also maximize tire life. It is possible to have suspension that is both very comfortable on the street, as well as highly competitive on the track - if you do need to fine tune, damper adjustments or swapping springs is straightforward enough.
- Higher cost does not necessarily mean higher performance. While it is certainly true that it costs more to build a sophisticated suspension, there is no guarantee it will be set up properly or be the ideal combination of components for the car you're driving.
- Replacing factory dampers with stiffer springs and dampers can prove essential in improving overall handling of your car - consider upgrading bushings to harder rubber, polyurethane, or solid/spherical to really obtain the benefit of a significant spring/shock upgrade. Otherwise, you won't experience the direct improvement in handling and feel possible with a properly dialed-in suspension.
TC Kline's coilovers, camber plates, and suspension bushings are assembled in the USA. By working closely with the manufacturer, ECS is proud to have all of TC's products available, including replacement components.
TC Kline Racing has selected and developed a wide range of components designed to maximize the comfort and performance of your BMW. Many of these parts are exclusive to TC Kline Racing and all of the parts have been tested on the street and track and are used in TC Kline competition cars.
